MODELING OF THE YOUNGER TEENAGERS’ INFORMATION LITERACY DEVELOPMENT PROCESS IN THE POSTMODERN ERA

Annotation:

The article presents a model of the younger teenagers’ information literacy development process. Based on the substantiation of key ideas of postmodernism and its influence on the main directions of Russian education system modernization, the relevance of the study of the problem of the younger teenagers’ information literacy development process is illustrated. The author’s definition of the concept of “the younger teenagers’ information literacy” is given as a complex process of personal education, consisting of basic communication skills, abilities for information activity, the view of the world around as information space, and value-based attitude to information. We describe the main components of the younger teenagers’ information literacy as a complex of cognitive, operational and emotional and value elements in the logic of the process approach to the development of younger adolescents by means of interactive and communicative and information technologies in the information and educational space of the school. The implementation stages of the younger teenagers’ information literacy development process are presented: a diagnostic stage aimed at measuring the components of information literacy, a developmental stage focused on the active development of individual components of younger teenagers’ information literacy, and a control stage dedicated to determining the level of younger teenagers’ information literacy formed after the stage of its active development. The criteria for the formation of the younger teenagers’ information literacy are: cognitive (determining information, searching for information), operational (information management, information integration) and emotional-value (evaluating information, creating and transmitting it). Pedagogical conditions providing the effectiveness of the developed model are a teenager` s involvement in the information and educational environment of the school, aimed at the formation of the subjectivity; tutoring support for the personality of a younger adolescent development in the process of forming his or her information literacy.
