Annotation:

Fire training of a police officer of any state is an essential component of their professional skills. It is aimed at the formation, development, and improvement of skills in use of firearms. The relevance of the article is due to the need to improve the level of professional training of law enforcement officers of the Russian Federation. This topic is insufficiently studied due to introduction of innovations in the organization of professional training of personnel of the MIA of Russia. The aim of the work is to increase the effectiveness of fire training of police officers of the Russian Federation by studying foreign experience. A comparative analysis of the fire training of police officers in the Russian Federation and the United States is carried out; the conditions for successful performance of professional activities by police officers are defined; positive and negative conditions in the use of service weapons are identified; the conditions for high-quality handling of firearms by police officers are formulated. The authors have identified a range of flaws in the introduction of modern equipment (such as a tactical holster) in professional training; positive and negative qualities of firearms used by police officers of the MIA are specified. The authors highlight the importance of shooting exercises during training, the conditions and procedure for the performance of which are similar to situations encountered in practice. The authors’ analysis may help qualitatively improve the level of preparedness of police officers of the MIA of Russia, create conditions for performance of functional duties on protection of public order, life and health of citizens at a higher professional level and ensure the personal safety of police officers.
