The relevance of the article lies in the consideration of ethno-oriented educational and educational activities as a factor in the preservation of national traditions in the modern educational space. The use of ethno-pedagogical foundations in the educational process of a youth gymnasium expands the boundaries of knowledge on the way of comprehending the environment, forms worldview structures that provide for the co-evolution of man and society, the individual and nature, personality and the world. The purpose of the study is to study ethno-cultural traditions as a means of developing the personality of students in the educational activities of a youth gymnasium. Methods of questioning, observation, conversation, expert assessment were used. The study involved schoolchildren of a comprehensive school and a youth gymnasium. The pedagogical potential of the ethnocultural traditions of the peoples of the North is considered as an effective means of preserving and developing ethno-personality in the context of active globalization. The value content of ethnic traditions enriches the process of upbringing and education of the individual and ensures that such regional characteristics as climate features, extreme conditions, nomadic life, and traditional crafts are taken into account. This study was preceded by the use of the method of theoretical analysis of scientific literature, from which we concluded that the system approach is more promising, which allows us to implement a general system model and use various digital tools when considering the role of ethnopedagogy in the modern education system. The systematic approach makes it possible to combine four functional subsystems into one: ideological, natural, managerial and technological. In one bundle there are four levels of complexity of the system: social, biological, physical and symbolic. The results of the study showed that teaching staff should pay attention to digital technologies in expanding and deepening ethnocultural knowledge.
