The article presents the experience of designing training courses in foreign languages (French and Italian) for special purposes. A review is made of textbooks and teaching aids of domestic authors on various profiles of foreign language training. For the first time, the educational master’s program “Romance languages in the context of national cultures” solves the problem of training highly qualified teachers of Romance languages based on a linguo-culturological approach. Within the framework of the discipline “Models for the design and planning of training courses in Romance languages”, 10 training courses in Romance languages were designed and developed, of which 6 are in French and 4 in Italian. The article describes modular courses in a foreign language of the specialty “French gastronomic art” and an elective course in Italian “Management and organization of cultural events”. Designing the educational process of training specialists in the sphere of production and services includes an orderly sequence of actions, which is reflected in the content of curricula and courses in a foreign language for special purposes. The presented courses in Romance languages have been designed and developed according to the basic principles of teaching a foreign language for special purposes. The design algorithm is described with an indication of all stages. The structure of the developed educational and elective courses in Romance languages includes the following components: the modular structure of the course, authentic materials, special vocabulary (terms and professionalisms), a list of professional skills and communicative situations of business communication. The design activity of students within the framework of the master’s program prepares them for independent modeling of the educational process in one of the Romance languages studied as a second foreign language at a university or as part of additional language training for highly specialised professionals.
