TEACHER’S PERFECTIONISM: PROBLEMS AND SPECIFICS

Annotation:

This article reveals the problems and specifics of such a socio-psychological phenomenon as perfectionism in the professional activity of a teacher and in the general educational process. This scientific article examines the professional aspirations and guidelines of a teacher in the context of perfectionism. The article touches upon the causes of perfectionism in the teacher, forcing the teacher to apply a destructive style of business communication. The author examines the perfectionism of a teacher in professional activity from the negative side. The main aspects influencing the emergence of perfectionism in the educator are studied, which include: inflated expectations of their professional activity and the outcomes of learners; high standards on which the educator relies, without the ability to follow them; unhealthy criticism of themselves as professionals and other subjects of educational activity, namely learners; fears of facing the challenge of new goals and projects, which leads to a lack of motivation to develop both their professional competences and the skills of learners; avoiding discoveries and additional tasks due to perfectionist tendencies. The differences in the severity of perfectionism, its positive impact on the teacher and his professional activities are also revealed. The article reveals the possibilities and ways to deal with this phenomenon, namely, an algorithm for working out perfectionism has been developed, which includes the following steps: awareness of the existing problem, acceptance of the problem of perfectionism affecting professional activity, working out perfectionism with the help of psychological practices and trusting communication in a professional circle of communication. To achieve this goal, a review of the theoretical material of existing relevant scientific research and literature on a given topic was used. As a conclusion, the importance of studying the problem of perfectionism in the professional activity of a teacher is highlighted.
