THE STATE OF DEVELOPMENT OF ATHLETICS IN RUSSIA AND MECHANISMS FOR ITS POPULARIZATION

| Annotation: | Athletics rightfully occupies a significant part of the school’s physical education program, since it has universal characteristics, because running, jumping, throwing and race walking are the main motor functions of a person. It is important for any country to develop athletics to gain a high place for the national team in sport events and maintain the country’s sporting status in the global arena. Unfortunately, in Russia, athletics is inferior in development and popularity to other sports powers due to ineffective promotion and popularization mechanisms. It is assumed that by improving these mechanisms, including with the borrowing of foreign experience, it is possible to significantly improve the state of development of athletics in Russia. In the study, the mechanisms for the development and popularization of athletics in Russia are analyzed, the reasons for the decline in interest in this sport and factors affecting the development and growth of the popularity of sports are studied, and new ways of developing athletics among a wide audience are searched. The authors analyzed the documents of the All-Russian Athletics Federation, containing up-to-date information on the number of sports facilities, the total number of students and coaches, and also conducted a survey of highly qualified domestic specialists in the field of athletics. As a result, the problems that impede the development of athletics in Russia are identified; methods and recommendations are proposed to solve these problems. Based on the study, the authors propose areas for improving the development and popularization of athletics in the Russian Federation, which are advisory in nature. | ||
