The article discusses theoretical approaches to
the interpretation of the term “labor productivity” as applied
to employees engaged in research and development (R&D).
The relevance of the research is due to accelerated scientific
and technological development, in which the speed and quality
of generating new technological solutions, design and development
ideas are key factors in ensuring the competitiveness
of enterprises specializing in R&D. In addition, existing theoretical
approaches often characterize labor productivity
in general, without taking into account the specifics of the enter-
prises under study. In the course of the work, a systematic
analysis
of domestic and foreign approaches to measuring
and evaluating
labor productivity was carried out. The purpose
of the work is to propose, on the basis of the analysis carried
out, an author’s definition of the labor productivity of workers
engaged in R&D, taking into account the specifics of highly
intellectual work of a creative nature.
As a result of the systematization of theoretical approaches,
the main differences between labor productivity in
the classical sense (in relation to manufacturing industries) and productivity in the field of scientific research and development,
creative innovation are revealed. Based on a comparison
and critical analysis of the factors determining
labor productivity in production and in research enterprises,
the author’s definition of labor productivity in R&D is proposed,
suggesting a comprehensive system of quantitative
and qualitative indicators adapted to the specifics of research
activities. Taking into account the developed definition,
the further direction of research may be related to the application
of this interpretation at specific high-tech research
enterprises, forming on its basis a strategy for increasing
labor productivity, as well as the development of a regulatory
framework for the measurability and evaluation of the effectiveness
of scientific activities. |
