Annotation: The transition to a carbon-neutral economy actualizes the formation of specialized carbon landfills (CL) in the regions of Russia, which can become objects of popular science tourism. 19 CL have been built on the area of more than 310,000 hectares, which include all types of territorial landscapes and ecosystems. They can cover research, educational, and career guidance tourism in various forms. These sites are the most preferred for promoting current knowledge about the patterns of the carbon cycle and climate change factors, the mechanism of carbon absorption in ecosystems, the prospects for a carbon-neutral economy and the benefits of the emerging national carbon market. This article explores the role of these polygons as tourist products that meet the regulatory requirements for their composition, processes, equipment, and technologies, as well as their social, environmental, and economic significance. The landfills are distributed by federal districts, their strengths and weaknesses are determined, and promising forms are highlighted – scientific excursions, expeditions, and volunteering. The choice of scientific areas is determined by the working processes – the main (sequestration), supporting, managerial, and development processes. The CL facilities are equipped with modern analytical devices and tools, and they use advanced cloud services and digital technologies, as well as the best farming and forestry practices, which makes them attractive for scientific research. The presence of extensive natural heritage with a high potential for carbon sequestration opens up prospects for the development of scientific tourism as a sought-after business. The integration of CL into tourism products allows not only to combine active recreation, leisure, and gaining useful knowledge, but also to implement government priorities, such as promoting a positive civic and patriotic attitude among researchers, expanding the cultural and educational environment, attracting young people to science, and overcoming the lag behind the global climate agenda.
