THINKING IN MATERIAL AS THE MOST IMPORTANT QUALITY OF APPLIED ARTIST

Annotation:

The article reviews the significance of decorative-applied art in decoration of human’s living space as the leading factor of spiritual and moral, as well as aesthetic education of young generation, formation of its national identity. The essence of the definition “plastic thinking” is defined. It represents the most important quality of applied artist’s professional mastership. The meaning and expedience of “thinking in material” are proved. It is supposed well-developed skill to formation the imagebearing conception with its probable realization in certain decorative material. The process of plastic thinking formation, including simultaneous development of cognitive psychic processes and practical skills in working with material, is defined. The ways and methods of more effective training process are defined and proved. They are included purposeful development of decorative perception and personal emotional attitude to the practical activity process. The leading method of decorative perception formation is conscious observation and detection of decorative characteristics of subject or event and acquisition of their conditional plane image skills. In the learning of techniques and technologies of material processing the main methods are: stepping, sequence and gradual complication of the educational tasks, taking into consideration the individual students abilities. Cultural and person-centered approaches are noted in methodological foundation for education of applied artists. They allow to create decorative creations with regard for regional environment and local national customs and express the own way of personal enhancement. The deep immersion in ethnic art culture allows storing up the huge range of mental images. It greatly increases the students’ opportunities in searching of compositional conception, helps to have time for practical learning of decorative material and therefore markedly increases the quality of their professional background.
