NEW APPROACH TO OPTIMIZATION OF TEACHING LANGUAGE TO SPECIALISTS IN THE CONTEXT OF ENGINEERING EDUCATION MODERNIZATION

Annotation:

The article discusses the necessity to optimize the training of future engineers in accordance with the focus on CDIO and the requirements of a comprehensive and consistent modernization of engineering education in Russia. The inclusion of the disciplines of the humanitarian module, the introduction of courses foreign language for specific purposes in the training program for engineering personnel reflects a situation when the emphasis in the training of technical specialists is shifted to “professional and personal development of students by means of a foreign language in the process of their preparation for future professional activities. Obviously, a foreign language has nowadays become an instrument of professional activity for a specialist. When writing this article, the following empirical methods were used: analysis of scientific and methodological literature, scientific observation, generalization of experience, questionnaires. The methods used at the theoretical level were: abstraction, analysis and synthesis, comparison, modeling. Our proposed language training models for students of a technical university make it possible to implement the tasks of the linguistic educational process and contribute to the formation of linguistic and professional competence of students. The use of a largescale approach in the practice of teaching a foreign language for specialists of a non-linguistic profile allowed us to design a model of teaching a foreign language for specific purposes in the form of a matrix for the preparation of a wide-profile professional. Based on a narrow-focus approach to teaching a foreign language to specialists who are required to carry out specific, clearly defined tasks and operations in production using a foreign language, a model for teaching a foreign language for specific purposes has been created. The basis of this model is the construction of a professional picture of the world in accordance with the basic concepts that make up the foundation of a professional foreign language culture, which must be learned by future specialists in a particular field. Obviously, for each professional sphere, a foreign language course is required, which is characteristic only for a given profession or discipline.
