This article presents the author’s view of the adaptive capabilities of the Instagram mobile application for designing literature lessons when studying the novel “Fathers and Sons” by I. S. Turgenev in the 10th grade as a new type of lesson — the Instagram lesson. The article describes in detail the subtypes of this lesson, such as: video lesson-lecture; live video lesson in stories on the IGTV channel (television on Instagram); lesson as a message, and their phased design with a step-by-step description. The classification of the Instagram lesson subtypes is based on services in a mobile application, the use of which allows students to be attracted to reading and actively master new knowledge and skills while studying a work of art. The relevance of the topic of the article is due to the growing interest in the adaptive capabilities of mobile applications for designing lessons in teaching literature, as indicated by a number of legislative acts on the federal level. All this confirms the need to study the didactic capabilities of the mobile application, its main advantages, and risks of the Instagram lesson compared to the traditional lesson, as well as the difficulties that the teacher faces when designing the Instagram lesson. Theoretical substantiation of the emergence of a new type of literature lesson — the Instagram lesson — in the context of the global spread of digital technologies and the growing role of mobile learning is carried out. The key finding is rethinking literature teaching process by adapting mobile applications and designing literature lessons in a given network logic. The implementation of the methodological aspect of using the Instagram lesson is shown in the author’s system of lessons in the study of I. S. Turgenev’s novel “Fathers and Sons”.
