STUDENTS’ PERCEPTIONS OF DIGITAL CULTURE AND DIGITAL EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT: FROM RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

Annotation:

The work focuses on the consideration of the concepts of digital culture and digital educational environment in their theoretical and practical implementation according to modern, scientific approaches. The result of an empirical study of the opinions of students of the university, which allowed developing a model of digital educational environment, is presented. The author makes conclusions that the close relationship of the digital culture of the person with a dynamic digital educational environment. The last one embodies a digital culture structure that includes several core components: innovation, literacy and competence (high-level and responsible digital skills) and, above all, a value system. The empirical study makes it possible to establish the fact that digital culture is not sufficiently embedded in the students’ conception of the value of digital culture, with the general development of digital literacy (understanding the essence of digital processes, the basis of information production, consumption and exchange, etc.). In addition, a hierarchical system of means of formation of digital culture on the basis of virtual educational space (resource, portal, monitoring system, distance learning product, etc.) has been built. The collection and analysis of respondent data on the essence of digital culture has demonstrated a complex relationship of perceptions, including a system of changes in the production of cultural products, a new model of behavior and communication, new competencies and values. A significant lacuna in understanding learners’ own position in digitalization has been discovered, which hinders the transition from the role model of an average user of virtual reality to its creative and independent implementation. Concepts of motivation, responsibility, the core idea of the value system, forming a model of digital culture, should become the desired stimulus to the active transformation of the student’s attitude to the digital space and its processes. The significance of continuing research on the concepts in the existing educational process is proved from the point of view of pedagogy
