Assessment of the sustainability of agricultural development is the monitoring of a complex socio-economic system using complex criteria that consider the specifics of the industry. The concept of sustainable development and its effectiveness implies the use of methods for assessing sustainability, which measure its growth over a certain period of time. In the era of a transformational economy, the conceptual framework of the term “sustainable development” and the category “sustainable agriculture” is consistent, in contrast to the approaches to measuring this indicator, where to date there is no developed methodological basis for assessing the level of agricultural sustainability due to the use of different ideas, approaches, methods, and indicators. The applied technologies of agricultural production should measure the efficiency of economic growth for people and nature. Such a methodology for assessing the socio-ecological and economic stability of the advanced development in the agricultural industry should be used at macroand micro levels when making management decisions, monitoring and forecasting. To assess the sustainability of agricultural production, it is advisable to consider a system of indicators used to assess efficiency by group (economic, social, and environmental). The socio-ecological and economic assessment of the sustainability of the agrarian sector should be carried out taking into account the fact that in the short term the structural cycles of the economy and weather conditions have a great impact on the productivity of the industry and on the uneven supply of agricultural products. The transition from the resource-export model requires the search for a modern development model of the agricultural sector, which should be determined by long-term strategic development goals in the solution of sustainability complex, based on a balance of economic, social and environmental components. New management approaches and mechanisms for adapting the agrarian sector of the economy in the context of modern reality determine the system of problem solving in view of transformative relations in the institutional environment at the macro-, micro level and at the level of socio-economic structures.
