The article examines the diplomatic role
of the Russian language as a factor of humanitarian interaction,
educational cooperation, and international academic
communication. The relevance of the topic lies in the fact that
a teacher of Russian as a foreign language (RFL) today acts not
only as a language instructor, but also as a mediator between
cultures, value systems, and communicative norms. The purpose
of the paper is to determine the significance of the diplomatic
potential of the Russian language for the content and structure
of professional training of an RFL teacher. The research
material includes academic publications of 2020–2025
on the promotion of the Russian language abroad, humanitarian
diplomacy, intercultural communication, speech etiquette,
and RFL teacher competences, as well as policy documents
defining the priorities of language and humanitarian policy.
The methods used are theoretical analysis, synthesis, comparative
review, discourse analysis, and pedagogical modeling. It is
established that the diplomatic function of the Russian language is realized not only in interstate communication, but also in educational
practice, where language shapes respectful interaction,
cultural mediation and symbolic inclusion of students in the Russian-
speaking academic space. The study shows that this aspect
requires strengthening intercultural, sociolinguistic, communicative-
ethical, mediation, and digital components in RFL teacher
education. A model of professional training is proposed, which
includes a target, content, technological, and outcomes blocks,
as well as a special module dedicated to the Russian language
as a tool for humanitarian and educational diplomacy. The paper
concludes that attention to the diplomatic role of the Russian
language broadens the professional profile of the RFL teacher
and improves readiness to work in multicultural classrooms. |
