The study of color and color semantics remains
relevant today, as demonstrated by various scientific studies
and areas of human activity.
This article, in a brief overview format, presents the areas
and main directions of color research; explores the correlation
of color as a subject of reflection; and examines the phenomenon of color perception in the context of the creative
work of an artist.
It is well known that color perception has changed dramatically
over the course of society’s historical development,
and humankind’s phenomenal ability to discern color has
attracted the attention of all scientific fields. This article examines
the concept of color as a phenomenon within the spectrum
of natural, socio-cultural, and psychological phenomena, possessing
multiple meanings and multidimensionality. Through
aspects of the psychology of color perception, human emotional
reactions to specific colors are described; through the prism
of individual psychological differences, the essence of the formation
of color associations is revealed as a system of culturally
determined cognitive processes that unite color perception,
as well as verbal and non-verbal communication.
In painting, color serves as a tool for constructing form,
harmony, and creating the illusion of light. This article enriches
existing understanding of the phenomenology of color as it pertains
to the artist’s practical work. The authors examine aspects
of the artist’s emotional perception of color through the lens
of personalized, conscious experience.
The article attempts to reveal the issue of color associations
as stable psychological, emotional and physical sensations
of a person, and in particular, an artist-painter, caused by certain
colors and their combinations, formed by the experience of personal
perception and experience, as well as through verbal communication
— the first signal system and the socio-cultural context. |
