The work is aimed at identifying the current state
of motivation of younger schoolchildren for physical education
lessons and substantiating the need to develop a team model
for preparing them to meet the standards of the GTO complex.
The empirical basis was a ascertaining pedagogical experiment
conducted in 2025 on the basis of Secondary School No. 576
in St. Petersburg with the participation of 112 students
of grades 1 and 4 (56 people in each parallel). Motivation is
considered as an integral personal characteristic that determines
the attitude of children to physical activity. It was found
that by the 4th grade, the proportion of children who enjoy PE
lessons decreases from 50% to 21.4%, the subject’s rating drops
from 1st to 3rd place, and the proportion of children who are
indifferent to their own results increases from 14.2% to 28.5%
(p < 0.05). However, the cognitive understanding of the benefits
of physical activity remains at 100%. The study identified organizational
and pedagogical deficiencies, such as the dominance
of a normative-evaluative approach and a lack of game technologies.
The qualitative specificity of the motivational sphere
is conditioned by age-related characteristics — an increase
in the importance of the competitive component by the 4th grade
(from 57.1% to 71.4%), a lack of interest in track and field
exercises (0%), and a pronounced desire for collective games.
Based on the Self-Determination Theory of E. Deci and R. Ryan,
the necessity of transitioning from an individual-normative
model to team-based gamified training that integrates the GTO
standards is substantiated. The data obtained form the empirical
basis for developing the “GTO Team” model aimed at fostering
sustainable intrinsic motivation in primary school children
for physical education. |
