The article considers the main approaches
to assessing the competitiveness of universities and defines
the directions of their further methodological development
in the context of the transformation of the higher education
system. The relevance of the research is due to the fact that
the existing tools for assessing the competitiveness of universities
are often focused primarily on quantitative indicators and
record only individual results of the educational organization,
not allowing to fully identify the structure of its competitive
advantages, internal constraints and development potential.
In modern conditions of increasing competition between universities,
digitalization of the educational environment and
increasing requirements for the quality of specialist training,
there is a need to improve approaches to assessing the effectiveness
of universities. The purpose of the study is to systematize
the existing methods of assessing the competitiveness of universities and substantiate the directions of their improvement.
The methodological basis consists of the analysis
and generalization of scientific literature, comparative analysis,
logical and structural approach, as well as classification
of methods according to their substantive characteristics
and scope of application. It has been established that rating,
indicator, integral, expert and comparative methods have
varying degrees of analytical significance, but most of them do
not provide a comprehensive view of the university’s position
in the educational system, since they rely on a limited range
of indicators, do not sufficiently take into account the qualitative
characteristics of activities and are poorly adapted to mo-
dern changes in higher education. It is proved that the development
of methodological tools for assessing the competitiveness
of universities should be associated with the expansion
of the system of indicators, their structuring in key areas of university
activity, a combination of quantitative and qualitative
parameters, as well as strengthening the practical orientation
of the final assessment. A logical model of an improved approach
to assessing the competitiveness of universities is proposed,
which can serve as a theoretical and methodological basis
for further development of an integrated system for assessing
the effectiveness and sustainability of universities. |
