Annotation:

This paper shows the specific character of teaching a foreign language from linguistic and pedagogical point of view. This article is devoted to problems of teaching a foreign language for students of higher institutions specializing in transport engineering where the learning process is based on the needs of the students in modern conditions. The necessary skills for development of competence in carrying out the professional activity in a foreign language are analyzed. The authors argue for the definition of the foreign communicative ompetence, the professional training of students of higher institutions specializing in transport engineering, English professional vocabulary.
