The article discusses the possibility of applying the modeling method when teaching linguistic university students the Spanish language as a second foreign language. Models of communicative situations are proposed for different levels of Spanish language proficiency (A1, A2, B1), according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. It is indicated that modeling of communicative situations of intercultural communication is needed for the intensification of the learning process and effective mastery of the Spanish language. Creating situations that imitate the natural language environment allows forming and improving the intercultural communicative competence of students at the initial stage. Thus, when modeling situations of intercultural communication, the teacher solves the main tasks of teaching the language and culture of Spain and Latin America. When modeling communicative situations, the teacher proceeds from the language level of groups and learning objectives at this level. When writing this article, the empirical level methods were used: analysis of scientific and methodological literature, scientific observation, generalization of experience, questionnaires. The theoretical level methods were also used: abstraction, analysis and synthesis, comparison, modeling. The effectiveness of the joint work of a teacher and a native speaker of Spanish at the Institute of Foreign Languages of Moscow City Pedagogical University is noted, a tandem that motivates and stimulates students to master the foreign language, removes the language barrier at the initial stage of training, introduces the culture, history, habits and customs of Spain and Latin America. In the process of such work, students have the opportunity to really communicate directly with a native of Spanish culture, thereby enriching their background knowledge and developing their communicative skills, learning at each lesson the language standards and rules of communication / behavior with a representative of a different culture.
