In the conditions of modern reality, a large stream of rapidly changing events, the need to generalize a significant amount of data, many researchers note an increasingly clear trend towards the transition of pedagogy to a new quality from descriptiveness to modeling and design. The relevance of the article is due to the use of such modern forms in the study of organizational and pedagogical processes as modeling. The article reveals the concepts of “model” and “modeling”, and also presents their role in pedagogical science, compares the views and approaches of various authors on the use of modeling in pedagogical research. The undeniable advantage of using models in the study of various objects of pedagogy is presented. And the effectiveness of pedagogical modeling in the organization of volunteer activities is proved. The article also presents a model that allows you to determine the socio-civil foundations of student youth by means of volunteering in modern conditions. The model developed by us includes four interconnected and interdependent blocks: goal-oriented, content-oriented, technological, and evaluation-result-oriented. The presented model is based on the ideas of orientation of the theory and practice of forming social and civic foundations, the introduction of student youth through volunteering into the social environment, the organizational and pedagogical interaction of the mentor and participants in the process of forming social and civic foundations. The model consists of four components: goal-oriented, content-oriented, technological, and result-oriented. The article also presents the author’s program for the development of the volunteer movement at the university, which is part of the technological component of the model. The model of volunteer activity built and described in the article makes it possible to reveal the content and methods necessary for the formation of the socio-civil foundations of the individual.
