Digital transformation of the manufacturing sector is the introduction of digital solutions to replace outdated or non-digital production and management business processes and operations in order to increase business efficiency. This intelligent, technology-based approach allows companies to maximize the use of industrial solutions and adapt production to changing conditions and requirements in real time, improve management and improve internal business processes, optimize technological processes. Industrial enterprises have a large number of physical assets (production halls, supply chains, back office, IT infrastructure, etc.) and extract huge amounts of data (from CRM and ERP systems, transactions, social networks, etc.). The purpose of digital solutions here is to integrate assets and data in such a way that they are combined to increase the value of each operation and process. The digital transformation of production is based on the modern industrial revolution — Industry 4.0, because it automates processes and allows you to manage them in real time. The introduction of advanced digital solutions helps enterprises to reduce costs, improve customer service and increase ROI. The article analyzes the level of automation, informatization and digitalization of business processes basing on the study of 274 enterprises (organizations) which are parts of separate ministries, state committees and concerns of the Republic of Belarus. The leaders and outsiders of the digitalization process are identified; the reasons for the lagging are established. Recommendations for further digital transformation of Belarusian industrial enterprises are given. It is shown that the state should play a decisive role in carrying out digitalization of industry and stimulating the development of modern industrial production based on Industry 4.0 technologies. The study used general scientific methods — systematic and comparative analysis, generalization, as well as a special method — the analysis of sources. Questionnaires filled in by the chief engineers of the surveyed enterprises were used as data sources.
