USE OF INDOOR PLANTS IN THE GENERAL EDUCATIONAL PROCESS OF TEACHING BIOLOGY

Annotation:

The article discusses the features of the organization of educational work with students of educational institutions with the involvement of natural objects — indoor plants. Indoor plants, both live and processed objects (herbaria, dry collections, etc.) are used in the educational process of biology as demonstration tools, for organizing and implementing experimental work by students, as elements of greening the educational environment, saturating it with living nature objects. The main problems are revealed in the active involvement of indoor plants in the educational process in the context of distance and mixed learning formats. As an example of the use of indoor plants in teaching biology, the development of a lesson on the topic “Ecological groups of plants”, implemented as part of the elective “Indoor floriculture”, is presented. The elective was addressed to students in grades 6 and 7 and took place in both face-to-face and distance learning formats during the 2020—2022 academic years. A comparative analysis of the use of methodological developments of this training session and its influence on the formation of subject educational results, basic research activities in the implementation of project activities by students, increasing their motivation to study biology is given. Particular attention is paid to the methodological development of a practice-oriented training session, during which students implemented project activities for the selection of indoor plants in accordance with the stated conditions, in determining whether these living objects belong to ecological groups in accordance with adaptive features. The presented developments can be recommended for implementation in the process of teaching biology and ecology.
