THE USE OF PREDICTIVE ANALYTICS OF THE LEARNING PROCESS BY UNIVERSITY TEACHERS

Annotation:

The article is devoted to the currently relevant university problem of using predictive analytics of the learning process in the higher education system. Predictive analytics of the learning process is an educational innovation that can potentially improve the teaching practice in the higher school system and contribute to the effective dynamics of knowledge acquisition and the success of students. Nevertheless, the degree of implementation of predictive analytics of the educational process in higher educational institutions remains limited, while teachers who use predictive analytics technology do not systematically do this. Based on the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology, we conducted eleven in-depth interviews with high school teachers and studied their interaction with predictive analytics during a 37-week undergraduate course. We sought to identify factors explaining the degree of use of predictive analytics in teaching practice and the impact of intervention — sending reminders to teachers of higher education by e-mail to promote systematic interaction when using predictive analytics technology. The data obtained indicate that among the factors contributing to the effective organization of the learning process and the use of predictive analytics were expected productivity, expected efforts and social impact. Among the factors hindering the use of predictive analytics technology were unexpected performance and facilitated learning conditions, as well as a lack of understanding of predictive data. In the modern Russian system of higher education, the authors have identified the need to discuss the consequences of the introduction and use of predictive analytics in higher education. The use of predictive analytics in the educational process requires further reflection and use in the higher education system.
