The purpose of our work was a comparative analysis of the features of aggression in men and women engaged in sports. To achieve this goal, we carried out an analysis and generalization of research materials revealing various aspects of the problem we are investigating, conducted an experimental study of aggressiveness indicators using three psychodiagnostic techniques: the Bass — Darkey Aggression Questionnaire, the A. Assinger Questionnaire, and the BPQA-24. The experimental study involved 150 people aged 18 to 30, including 71 men and 79 women engaged in sports. It has been established that men engaged in sports, in a competitive duel situation, act more constructively than women, since they are mainly aimed at physical opposition to the opponent. They focus physically and mentally on the activity being performed to a greater extent than on the manifestations of emotional experiences of their attitude towards the enemy. They use aggression as a “business” tool for obtaining various social and material rewards during a competitive duel. For women, on the contrary, indirect aggression is the dominant way to react in a conflict situation. They prefer to influence their opponents not directly, but indirectly, using, along with physical actions, verbal and non-verbal means of expressing their negative attitude. These emotional reactions in the form of anger and hostility are impulsive actions in their source and direction, since they have no other purpose than the discharge of psycho-emotional tension.
