Annotation:

The article reveals the topic of designing and developing a model for the methodology of integrated media education in the course of biology for medical students in secondary vocational education in order to develop their functional literacy. Educational results are a key indicator of the quality of education, since it is through the prism of educational results that the effectiveness of the country’s educational policy is considered and the need for reforms in the education system and their pace are determined. One of the diagnostic tools to assess the level of improvement of the educational system is functional literacy. The paper presents the organizational and pedagogical conditions for the integration of media resources into the educational process, and also defines the goals, objectives and conceptual (methodological) foundations for integrating media education into a biology course, which allow drawing some conclusions in the framework of the biological training of students in the system of secondary vocational education that are of interest for the development of an appropriate methodology model of integrated media education in the course of biology in order to develop the functional literacy of students of secondary vocational education. The methodology of integrated media education in the biology course is based on the use of a set of teaching aids and electronic didactic material in the biology course by solving the author’s integral educational and cognitive tasks, cases, research projects as part of the implementation of the media educational platform. The result is the experience of designing the section “Fundamentals of Genetics and Breeding” with the help of the author’s didactic material and media education techniques for students of medical educational institutions of secondary vocational education. This article is aimed at teachers of secondary vocational education, school teachers involved in the integration of media education resources into the course of biology and striving to develop and improve the functional literacy of students.
