At present, a request has been formed in domestic education for the developing socially significant personal qualities in children and adolescents (civil identity, patriotism, social initiative, purposefulness, independence, responsibility, etc.), which together form the potential of a positive leader. In scientific research, children’s leadership is considered as a dynamic process of interaction between children in a small group, within which, under the influence of external and internal factors, a child stands out, possessing the personal qualities necessary to manage the group and achieve common group goals. Leadership manifestations of children often have a negative character (demonstration of superiority over their peers, the desire to subdue them using aggressiveness, deceit, etc.), which necessitates the development of the content of educational work aimed at developing positive leadership qualities in children. Senior preschool age is considered by scientists to be a favorable period for the development of leadership potential and the education of leadership qualities (high susceptibility to social influences, the development of elements of arbitrariness, self-control, self-esteem, etc.) The purpose of the study was to develop a program for educating positive leadership qualities in older preschoolers in joint activities with peers and adults based on the results of the analysis of foreign and domestic experience in studying the phenomenon of children’s leadership. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that on the basis of the identified psychological mechanisms for the formation of the desired personality traits in an individual, a pedagogical algorithm for developing positive leadership qualities in children at senior preschool age is determined. The theoretical significance lies in creating a methodology for developing positive leadership qualities in older preschoolers by means of mastering socially significant knowledge, forming a personal and value attitude towards them, acquiring experience of leadership behavior in joint activities with peers and adults, communication skills and social interaction in different-age child-adult communities in the process of volunteering.
