The article reviews the main approaches to the term “the social responsibility of business”, analyses the currently existing world models of social responsibility, identifies their strengths and weaknesses and examines the specificity of the Russian model development. The major targets of the Russian companies’ social activity have been determined. The modern challenges of the Russian social policy have been provided. The article has emphasized the role of the social responsibility as a tool for the effective dialogue between business, society and the state. The recommendations for development of the rules regulating the relations between the stated parties have been proposed.
