Annotation:

The article examines the issue of reforming the local government in the Republic of Ireland. The article analyzes provisions of the program of government of ruling coalition related to the local government reform in the Republic of Ireland, the priorities of the government in the field of reforming the system of local government and other programs and reporting documents of the Government of the Republic of Ireland and the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government. The article introduces new information about the organizational support of the local government reform in the Republic of Ireland. On the basis of the research, the author comes to the conclusion that the local government in the Republic of Ireland does not require the constitutional reform in the near future; the author also determines the degree of implementation of the provisions of the programs as a whole at the time of completion of the study.
