Annotation:

This article examines the problem of developing the potential of gifted students. In addition to analyzing the characteristics of giftedness, the criteria of the level of development of its potential have been clarified. The authors systematize information on the available psychological and pedagogical methods, which are used to identify indicators by certain criteria. It is noted that the identification, education and upbringing of gifted children is one of the main tasks of improving the educational system and institutions of additional education. It is also extremely important to identify and diagnose the gifted children in a timely manner, and to create conditions for maximizing the development of their makings and abilities. As effective in developing the potential of a gifted child, the possibilities of creative education are highlighted. Of particular importance is the study of the dynamics of the level of development of the potential of gifted students of a particular institution of additional education as a result of creative interaction. Its organization involves creative activity that is aimed at creating a product that is different from subjective or objective novelty and characterized by validity, originality, allows each gifted child to learn the basics of the modern methodology of creativity, develop the potential and form a need for further self‑knowledge, creative self‑development. The complementary capabilities of the teacher in developing the potential of a gifted educator include the implementation of innovations, where the teacher needs to create the conditions for mastering innovation, while providing the necessary degree of freedom of action in the development of innovations; the creation of special social and educational situations and success situations, which contributes to the development of non‑standard thinking, the desire for creative self‑manifestation, the development of a gifted child’s desire to engage in activities at the level of his capabilities; possession of creative technology, the ability to apply its techniques in its practical activities.
