Annotation:

The concept of professionally oriented foreign language teaching (English for Specific Purposes) at a technical university consisting of two modules — the universal module “Foreign language (English) for innovation activity” (for different training directions) and «Foreign language (English) for speciality» is given in the article. An example of engineering of basic educational program content for training direction 16.03.03 «Cooling cryogenic technology and life support system» — Bachelor’s program is presented. Implementation of the innovative socially oriented model of development of Russia requires new approaches of renewing university educational process. Сompetitiveness of a state is determined by readiness of specialists to the innovation activity (making innovative products, processes, services and their commercialization). To make innovative products, processes and services, a modern specialist must possess a set of personality traits and qualities as a person and a specialist assuming: possessing competences (in the area of training), including current methodologies of professional and creative activity and ethics of creativity; formed creative thinking; developed professional‑creative personal qualities. The role of professionally oriented foreign language teaching at a technical university is increasing. A foreign language is becoming a means of knowledge and a specialty language. The role of foreign professionalization of students in different training areas at a technical university is increasing; the necessity of carrying out applied research in linguistics (terminology) in different training areas and using new methods of creative thinking formation, developing professional and creative qualities, forming competences is increasing.
