THE SYSTEM APPROACH TO DEVELOPING LISTENING SKILLS USING INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES

Annotation:

The article examines the possibility of using ICT in developing listening skills while learning foreign languages. It is proposed to organize students’ education as well as their selfstudy based on using popular scientific platform Ted.com which allows developing listening skills of students. Listening is a difficult skill. Its development allows going of the next language skill — speaking. However, in higher education insufficient time is devoted to listening, thus making the achieving of effective and efficient training quite difficult. This, on the one hand, is a consequence of using methodologically obsolete methods. On the other hand, the teacher unevenly plans the training process, focusing just on developing of grammar or lexical skills. According to the analysis of the methods of teaching listening, it could be said that the most successful teaching in this aspect is the result of learning through the systematic approach. While teaching, the teacher has to deal with certain difficulties that can be overcome by gradually working with each of the blocks. Thus, the listening skills are sufficiently developed, and at the same time, the students are prepared for developing of speaking skills. The practical experience has shown that in a wide range of information and communication tools it is highly important to find the resource, which will be equally used by both teacher and student. The educational resource Ted Education can be organically integrated into the curriculum. Teacher can effectively use it during a lesson, as well as student can take it as an independent training.
