In the article the author points out the revealed contradiction between the high level of physical, tactical and technical preparedness of Thai boxing athletes on the one hand and the limited knowledge presented in the scientific and methodological literature on the pre-start preparation of skilled athletes engaged in Thai boxing on the other hand. To determine the mental state of highly qualified athletes engaged in Thai boxing, the method of A. N. Nikolaev (SANNTUV) was used. The results obtained indicate a low level of mood and confidence indicators in the athletes, a high level of emotional excitement, anxiety and tension, which affect the result of the fights. To optimize the pre-start state of highly qualified female athletes engaged in Thai boxing, psychoregulation tools were selected. In the course of the research, a hardware musical method of regulating pre-competitive mental processes, sports massage and warm-up were used. To decrease anxiety, to relieve fatigue, music with soft rhythms was chosen which was quiet, melodious; listening to sounds of nature — murmuring of a brook, singing of birds, noise of the sea was also an option. For emotional excitement, disconnection from unwanted psychological hindrances, raising the mood, increasing the level of motivation, tuning in to the upcoming fight, music with cheerful, energetic rhythms was selected. To maintain the level of optimal psychological readiness, to preserve the motivation to achieve a high result, listening to works with positive activating effects was offered. In addition to the methods used to regulate the mental state of female athletes before the fight, sports massage was used. The general warm-up allowed activating the processes of excitability of the central nervous system and the motor apparatus, acceleration of metabolism, increase in body temperature, the work of blood circulation and respiration of the athlete’s body. The selected means of psychoregulation made it possible to optimize the pre-start state of highly qualified female athletes engaged in Thai boxing.
