The article reveals the problems of preparing students of pedagogical specialties to solve the problem of organizing high school students` research work as one of the priority directions of secondary education development. The author’s understanding of the structure of the readiness of students of pedagogical specialties to design the research activities of high school students is proposed as a system of psychological, theoretical, technological and reflexive-evaluative components. The content, levels, indicators and criteria for the formation of its technological component are considered. The purpose of the article is to substantiate the effectiveness of the author’s approach to the formation of the technological component of the considered readiness on the example of the Life Safety Basics school course using practice-oriented tasks as a special methodological tool. The program of experimental work, which took place on the basis of the Crimean Engineering and Pedagogical University the name of Fevzi Yakubov, in which 103 students took part, is described. The logic of experimental work developed in the direction of «knowledge — understanding — application» and was based on such forms as solving practice-oriented tasks, writing research papers, directing research works of high school students, pedagogical practice etc. The article provides examples of practice-oriented tasks. The effectiveness of using the proposed means of forming the technological component of the considered readiness is proved using qualitative and quantitative diagnostic techniques and methods of mathematical statistics. To diagnose the level of formation of the technological component, diagnostic sheets were developed, which were filled in both by students themselves and experts, who were university teachers and heads of pedagogical practice. As a standardized methodology for diagnosing the level of partial readiness for professional and pedagogical self-development the method suggested by N. P. Fetiskin was used.
