The urgent problem of finding ways to increase students’ motivation for their future job is discussed in the article. The experience of the practice-oriented project “School of Professional Growth”, operating on the basis of the scientific educational and innovative laboratory “Pragmacognitive Technologies for the Formation of a Bilingual Linguistic Personality” is analyzed. This laboratory functions at the Department of the English Language and Professional Communication at Pyatigorsk State University. The significance of teaching practice for future teachers is connected with the need to develop practical skills and abilities for the effective implementation of professional duties. The authors identify key problems in organizing teaching practice, which lead to demotivation of trainees and their low interest in the process of training. Ways to solve these problems are considered. In order to increase students’ motivation, it is proposed to use a variable approach to organizing teaching practice. The experience of the participants of the “School of Professional Growth” project, who undergo teaching practice at the “Big Ben” language school at Pyatigorsk State University is analyzed. The organizational and pedagogical conditions for achieving positive results are identified. It is concluded that the variable approach contributes to the development of the motivation and the potential of future teachers based on taking into account their individual abilities.
