Prospect of use of innovative activity in cluster structures as a tool of adaptation to crisis

The article describes the dynamic of socio-economic development of Volgograd region and the Southern Federal District; the interregional comparison of the quality of economy growth and innovative activity is done based on the dynamics of major indicators. The slow-down of the innovative activity development in the entire Southern Federal District was noted based on the analysis results, as well as prevalence of conservative trends of development. In order to increase regional competitiveness, the option of development of current and potential clusters was proposed as a tool for adaptation to the crisis conditions by means of establishing new links, promotion of regional innovation products, optimization of added value, and cooperation of the common directs of development.
