The article presents results of a study of mastering technical features of beginning tennis players aged 5‑10 years. The results of the study of formation of a number of individual psychological characteristics of young tennis players: temperament, properties of nervous processes (strength, mobility, and balance), volitional qualities, reflexivity, and coordination abilities are presented. The process of mastering by the tennis players of a number of technical actions has been studied. The influence of some individual psychological characteristics of the personality of young tennis players on the duration and quality of mastering basic technical actions is shown. Young tennis players with a low level of nervous power, on average, spend much more hours mastering the supply and kicks from the summer than the athletes with an average and high level of nervous system strength. This results from the fact that performance of giving, mix and blows of a meeting, is rather labor‑consuming process from the technical point of view. It is difficult for young tennis players to quickly understand and master these elements, so their study takes longer and requires more efforts from athletes. Consequently, the level of strength of the nervous system has an impact on the development of some techniques in tennis. The high level of development of dexterity and coordination abilities of a tennis player contributes to the rapid mastery of technical actions, as evidenced by the small number of training hours spent on the study of a technical element. Athletes with a low level of development of this quality spend significantly more time on mastering the elements of technology. The results obtained suggest a significant influence of some individual psychological characteristics of the personality of young tennis players on the mastery of technical actions. During the initial training of young tennis players, technical actions, the coach needs to know the level of manifestation of the individual psychological characteristics of the person and take this into account when teaching actions.
